Notice of Motions tabled at the Ordinary Meeting of Council on Date which was held at City Hall in Little Malop Street, Geelong.
Church Street west of Katoomba Court and Graylea Avenue is an unsealed road on the boundary between Cowie and Kildare wards. The current condition of the road is such that large amounts of dust are generated by traffic, particularly during the drier months of the year. In order to respond to relevant concerns from residents it is proposed to trial a low cost seal treatment as a dust suppression measure. The trial will be monitored over the next several years to determine the effectiveness of this measure. The trial is estimated to cost $24,000.00. It is proposed that funds be transferred from the Community Projects budget allocations as:

After extensive discussions regarding the construction of a netball court for the Belmont Lions Sports Club in Winter Reserve, Kidman Ave, Belmont, it is expected that the full amount of the COGG Community Priority allocated funding of $150,000 will not be required. This is partly due to funding from the Geelong and District Football League (approx. $30,000) and also the Federal Government ($170,000) and the expected quote for the construction to be well under the full allocated funding amount required.
This represents an opportunity to fund council orientated projects that would not necessarily have otherwise received funding. An amount of $99,500 is to remain committed to the Belmont Lions Sporting Club netball project.
$5,000 is to be distributed to the Fresh Fruit Friday for local Kardinia Ward Primary schools – Oberon Primary, Oberon South, Belmont and Roslyn Rd Primary schools (4 x $1250 = $5,000), this is in lieu of the State Government no longer funding this program.
An amount of $3000 is to be allocated via BioGeelong to the Mayoral Science Awards to be held in October and administered by the council’s Economic Development Unit.
$15,000 is to be allocated to the Highton Cricket Club, McDonald Reserve, Belmont to construct a secure storage shed for the turf wicket roller and associated machinery. The club was not successful in a State Govt Sport & Recreation Grant application.
$5,000 is to be allocated as part of a collective amount of $15,000 ($5000 to be allocated from Buckley and Deakin Wards budgets respectively) to the COGG Youth Action Team activities in the respective southern wards and a further $2,500 to be allocated to the holiday program / activities actioned by the COGG Y.A.T.
And $20,000 is to be allocated to the Geelong Otway Tourism body for the Cruise Ship Marketing and Yarra Street Pier advocacy project. This is to ensure both projects remain high profile within council and with the State Government.

Design work for the Newtown/Chilwell Maternal Health Centre Project (C09818) has been completed and a pretender estimate has been prepared. This project now requires a capital budget allocation before any further progress can occur.
Accordingly, the project is on hold pending an allocation of funds as part of future budget processes.
Reallocation of $69,000 from Project C09818 to C12843 will enable works to progress on the Guild Cricket Clubrooms Upgrade Project in the current financial year.
