Notices of Motion tabled at the Ordinary Meeting of Council on 10 September 2013 which was held at City Hall in Little Malop Street, Geelong.
There is a surplus amount of $6,373 in Community Priority funding. The surplus funds are held in two projects:
$1,979 in Project No. C13833 originally allocated to Bell Post Hill Sport & Recreation Club Improvements - Viewing Deck, and
$4,394 in Project No. C13325 originally allocated to Speed Calming - Cowie Ward, in particular Hedgeley Road, Bell Park
It is proposed that these funds be reallocated as a disbursement to the Bell Park Sports Club (BPSC) located at 515 Midland Hwy, Batesford, for the upgrade of two Soccer pitch playing surfaces.
The Club has been providing sports and recreation facilities for the local community for the better part of 50 years. The facilities at BPSC are essential for the provision of soccer and sporting events in Geelong and the club has in excess of 200 registered Soccer players. The upgrade to the surfaces, which will include aerating the ground, over sowing with Rye Grass seed and fertilising are essential so that the grounds are ready for use in the 2014 season commencing late January.

A constant complaint of ratepayers, shoppers and shopkeepers is that the existence of 1 hour parking limits in the CAA is too restrictive and not user friendly for those who choose to come into the CAA for their business and shopping needs. The intent of this Notice of Motion is to increase all current CAA 1 hour parking limits to 2 hours for a trial period of 6 months and thereafter to review stakeholder feedback to assist Council’s deliberations on whether to adopt the change permanently.
The initiative is likely to be revenue neutral as normal parking charges will apply to the proposed 2 hour limit.
The aim of the initiative is to increase CAA utilization. CAA visitors will have the benefit of a more leisurely CAA experience allowing them to shop, browse or dine without the rush imposed by a 1 hour limit. For those CAA visitors who only require 1 hour parking, they will still have the option of only paying for 1 hour.
Cr S Kontelj moved, Cr Ansett seconded -
That Council increase all current CAA 1 hour parking limits to 2 hours for a trial period of 6 months and thereafter to review stakeholder feedback to assist Council’s deliberations on whether to adopt the change permanently.
