Cr Richards proposes to raise the following item as Urgent Business:
Cr Richards moved, Cr Macdonald seconded -
That Council considers as Urgent Business a motion concerning the Geelong Waterfront – Safe Harbour Precinct Project.

The Royal Geelong Yacht Club has approached Council to request funding to support their application to the Australian Government's National Stronger Regions Fund. The Geelong Waterfront Safe Harbour Precinct project seeks to implement a range of actions to increase the opportunities to hold events, undertake training and education and improve the public realm within the Royal Geelong Yacht Club precinct.
The Royal Geelong Yacht Club, Regional Development Victoria and Council have worked in partnership to develop a detailed understanding of the benefits of the project through the development of a business case. The Royal Geelong Yacht Club is interested in making an application to the Australian Government's National Stronger Regions Fund following the completion of the business case.
Applications for Round 3 of the National Stronger Regions Fund close at 5pm on Tuesday 15 March 2016.
The Royal Geelong Yacht Club is seeking a commitment from Council to provide funding to match a commitment from the Club. They will then use this commitment to leverage funding from other tiers of Government to establish the funding required to undertake the project

That Council:
requests Council officers to prepare a report detailing the funding request from the Royal Geelong Yacht Club for the Geelong Waterfront Safe Harbour Precinct project;
schedules a Special Council Meeting on Tuesday 8 March 2016 to consider the report and recommendations, prior to the closure of the National Stronger Regions Fund - Round 3 on Tuesday 15 March 2016.
