Question Time

Helen Freeman asked will Council review its policy to fund Bellarine Bayside given that the foreshore, not the pier or harbour is the key tourist attraction. Council’s lack of financial resources should be reconsidered. Ratepayers deserve this.

The Mayor took the question of notice for a written response.

Peter Anderson responded one of the actions in relation to funding is for Council officers to bring back a report to Council in the New Year outlining what the costs and implications might be.

Jenny Illingworth submitted a question in relation to the grasses on the side of the roads from the Bellarine into the City, which will be responded to in writing.

Gary Saunders asked what is Council doing in regards to the road maintenance in and around Geelong in particular Broderick Road.

The Mayor responded that he was aware of the major issue in relation to the condition of our roads and Council, in partnership with VicRoads, are working together towards a long term solution.

Guy Wilson-Browne added he recently went out to the location so fully understands the problem. Council will be doing all they can to bring forward rehabilitation works at this location.

Jennifer Bantow asked:

  1. Would Council please consider listing permit applications that go to DELWP in the Council Notices and have the details available at the Council Planning Department?

  2. Would Council please meet with the National Trust to discuss heritage matters generally?

Cr Harwood asked Ms Bantow to make contact with his Executive Assistant or Planning officers to arrange a suitable meeting time.
