Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for an award, the nominee must meet all of the following criteria.

The nominee:

  • Has NOT won an award between 2023-2025 in the same category as this nomination
  • has agreed to being nominated for a Geelong Award for People with a Disability
  • works, lives or volunteers with the City of Greater Geelong
  • lives with disability

Award category and reasons for nomination

  1. Achievement Award
    Recognises a person with disability who has achieved a significant milestone or success in any area.
  2. Leadership and Advocacy Award
    Recognises an outstanding individual who has led or advocated for others to achieve a considerable outcome or advancement.
  3. Volunteering Award
    Recognises a volunteer whose work fosters an inclusive culture, promotes access and inclusion, or enhances opportunities for people with disability.
  4. Inclusive Business Award
    Recognises excellence in businesses reducing barriers to employment for people with disability and building workplaces that respond to the needs of people with disability.
Please note: the judging panel has the right to alter category selection where appropriate.

This can include:

  • any change, positive outcomes or other success resulting from the nominee’s actions
  • how the nominee’s actions have positively impacted others with disability and/or the broader community.

For example:

  • in what other ways do the nominee’s activities contribute to people with disability to live satisfying lives, enhance participation in community life, or positively impact the community?

Is there any more information you would like to share about the nominee?

For example:  any hobbies/interests or goals they might want to achieve.

We will share this information on our webpage along with a picture of them. We also use this information during our celebration event in December.
