Notice of Motions tabled at the Ordinary Meeting of Council on 11 September 2012 which was held at City Hall in Little Malop Street, Geelong.
Within the 2012/13 budget, an amount of $50,000 was allocated to the Geelong Bowls Club as a contribution towards the conversion of an existing turf bowling green to a synthetic surface. The Geelong Bowls Club has requested a change of scope to instead convert the existing turf bowling green to tifdwarf turf.
Tifdwarf is a turf species that reduces water use and allows for bowls participation throughout the winter months. This allows the Geelong Bowls Club to meet its objectives of increasing participation in lawn bowls and providing a facility that caters for use for 12 months of the year.

The Victorian state government has revealed that the country and metropolitan fire fighting budget will be slashed by $66 million. This funding cut is likely to force agencies to abandon training and cut staff.
A Department of Treasury and Finance cost-cutting push will result in the Country Fire Authority losing $41 million in the first year of the cuts, with more to follow, and that the Metropolitan Fire Brigade will lose $25 million in the first year.
Emergency Services Minister Peter Ryan has confirmed both agencies would lose about $66 million. The cuts represent a significant reduction for both agencies. The MFB is expected to spend $302 million in 2012-13 and the CFA $415.8 million.
A review by the Department of Treasury and Finance in February and March this year had looked at saving money by having fewer fire fighters on duty for each shift and at night, despite the royal commission into Victoria’s 2009 bushfires has identified a need for more fire fighters.
