Notices of Motion tabled at the Ordinary Meeting of Council on Date which was held at City Hall in Little Malop Street, Geelong.
As part of the 11/12 and 12/13 budget, Council allocated $470,000 to the Barwon Soccer Club Upgrade (C12836). There was also a $400,000 state election commitment made to this project.
The project is nearing completion with a small amount of funding remaining. It is therefore appropriate that Council consider reallocating excess project funds to other projects.
It is proposed that the excess funds are re-allocated to the following project:
Barwon Soccer Club (Grovedale) Sports Lighting
This project involves the development of new training lights (50 lux) to the synthetic pitch as well as the upgrade of the sports lights on pitch 1 to 100 lux.
Reallocation of $55,000 from project C12836 to this project will mean the community have improved playing facilities that will enable better use of the facilities.

Following a review of a number of projects in the Deakin Ward it is appropriate that funds be reallocated between some projects.
The Highton Reserve Rotunda & BBQ facilities project (C13838) is now partially complete with the BBQ component installed. However due to a funding shortfall in the Highton Reserve – Balcony project remaining funds from the Rotunda & BBQ facilities project need to be transferred to allow the balcony to be completed.
Reallocation of $32,500 from project C13838 to C13837 will enable works to progress on the Highton Reserve Pavilion - Balcony Project.

Council allocated $10,000 in the 2012/2013 Budget for project D57717 – Mobile Environmental Art Project.
It is advised that this Arts/Waste project has not been able to be commenced. Labuan Square is one of Norlane’s strip shopping centres and in recent years has suffered with empty shop fronts and lack of interest, due to poor maintenance of the space.
In recent times Council has been supportive and worked with traders in delivering events such as markets, festivals, yarn bombing and paste-up art work. With this new commitment, we have seen the number of vacant shops decrease with new and exciting shops opening.
The Labuan Square Upgrade Project has an arts component, which compliments the intention of the initial funding allocation. This reallocation of funds is the next step in supporting this precinct.

Australia is one of the most recreational vehicle friendly countries in the world. Travelling in a motor home, campervan or caravan is one of the most popular ways to see our beautiful country.
Victoria currently has 23 RV friendly towns/cites offering a range of services for those who choose to travel and stay this way. The RV industry is also one of the fastest growing components of the Australian tourist market.
At present, there are no RV Friendly towns in the G21 region, given we have one of the most outstanding roads to travel along, being the Great Ocean Road. Many areas of the Geelong region also rely heavily on the tourist dollar for the benefit of the local economy.
This Notice of Motion is to seek a report to Council identifying areas in and around Geelong that can become RV friendly sites, with the goal of the City of Greater Geelong becoming an RV friendly City, if at all viable.
Cr Nelson moved, Cr Fisher seconded -
That a report be presented to Council investigating the issues and opportunities associated with catering for and the needs of Recreational Vehicle Users in the City of Greater Geelong.
Carried.
[Back to List]As part of the 12/13 budget, Council allocated $130,000 to the Little Ryrie Street Toilet Upgrade (C13205).
At present $130,000 remains unspent from C13205.
It is therefore appropriate that Council consider reallocating excess project funds to other projects.
The proposed works for the Little Ryrie Street Toilet Upgrade will be considered in the 2013 / 14 Public Toilet Refurbishment budget.
It is proposed that the excess funds are re-allocated to the following project:
East Geelong Football Club Floodlights (D67124)<
This project involves the development of new floodlights to the sports oval. Taking into account the existing funding the club already have, this additional funding will assist the East Geelong Football Club with a total of $180,000 for the construction of sports lighting. Any additional funds required will be covered by the club.
Reallocation of $130,000 from project C13205 to this project will mean the sporting club will have improved playing facilities that will enable better use of those facilities.
