Notices of Motion tabled at the Ordinary Meeting of Council on 11 February 2014 which was held at City Hall in Little Malop Street, Geelong.
An application has been received under the Councillor Community Grants Program that falls outside the established grant guidelines.
The applicant is the North Geelong Secondary College which has applied for $1,000 to assist with the cost of bus hire to transport the Year 11 and 12 Legal Studies students to an excursion to visit the Victorian Parliament and meet with the Victorian Attorney General. It is a Legal Studies Patron Program which is part of their VCE and gives the students additional exposure to speakers and excursions to help with their legal and politics studies.
The request falls outside the grant guidelines that state ‘requests for retrospective funds (ensure that your project or event has not commenced, been paid for or has been held, prior to your grant application being submitted).’
The application was submitted after the excursion had taken place.
Where Councillors wish to support and fund such applications from the Councillor Community Grants Program funding allocation, the applications are brought to Council for consideration.
Cr E Kontelj moved, Cr Nelson seconded -
