Gardens for Wildlife Workshop (Spring)

Do you dream of a beautiful garden that's alive with birds, butterflies, bees, and other local wildlife—but aren't sure where to start?

This workshop is for you!

Join the Geelong Gardens for Wildlife volunteers for a fun, practical, and inspiring workshop where you'll learn how to design a garden that supports local wildlife while creating a beautiful outdoor space you'll love.

You'll discover the key principles of wildlife-friendly gardening, develop a native plant list tailored to your garden, and create a simple garden design and action plan you can put into practice. Best of all, you'll leave with plants or a plant voucher to help you get started on transforming your garden into valuable wildlife habitat.

About Gardens for Wildlife

Geelong Gardens for Wildlife is a community-led group affiliated to Gardens for Wildlife Victoria.  The group aims to increase urban biodiversity by encouraging the use of indigenous plants, habitat features and sustainable gardening practices, demonstrating that even small private gardens can make a meaningful contribution to nature conservation. They do this by delivering the Design Your own Garden for Wildlife workshop, demonstration gardens and free garden visits where trained volunteer Garden Guides provide tailored advice to help residents enhance garden habitat for locally native wildlife.

To see their work in action visit the City of Greater Geelong's Geelong Pollinator Garden, a demonstration meadow-style nature strip near South Geelong Station. Designed to support pollinators and urban biodiversity, the garden showcases dense, layered plantings, year-round flowering species and habitat elements such as logs and rocks. It provides a practical example of how public and private spaces can be transformed into wildlife habitat.
