Implements the City of Greater Geelong Advertising Sign Guidelines (May 2022) by replacing the current Advertising Sign Guidelines (November 1997) and making other related changes to the Greater Geelong Planning Scheme.
The amendment
affects all land in the City of Greater Geelong. The amendment proposes to add
the City of Greater Geelong Advertising Sign Guidelines (May 2022) as an
incorporated document to the Greater Geelong Planning Scheme, insert
the City of Greater Geelong Advertising Sign Guidelines Review – Issues and
Options Paper (May 2022) as a background document, and insert new clauses
15.01-1L-03 and 15.01-6L to require signs in urban and rural areas to comply
with the updated Advertising Sign Guidelines (May 2022).
The decision to prepare and exhibit the Amendment was
made by Council at it’s meeting on 28 February 2023. The minutes from the meeting can be

Council decision - 30 Aug 2023
Council (under delegation) considered a report on the submissions to this Amendment on 30 Aug 2023 and resolved to refer them to an Independent Panel.

Panel Hearing - 16 October 2023
An Independent Panel was appointed to review submissions. It conducted a Panel Hearing on the 16 October. The Panel has provided its report to Council and a copy is provided below under “Panel Hearing Documents”.
Council officers are reviewing the Panel’s recommendations and will prepare a report to be considered at a future Council meeting.
Council meeting - 27 February 2024
The Amendment was adopted by Council on 27 February 2024 and sent to the Minister for Planning for approval on the date listed above.
