The Conservatory is open from 9:00am to 3:00pm and is closed on Christmas Day.
The Conservatory at the Geelong Botanic Gardens, built in the 1960's, is one of the Gardens’ most cherished features. This beautifully restored glasshouse provides a controlled environment for a diverse range of plants from around the world.
Designed to replicate warm, humid climates, the Conservatory allows visitors to experience lush tropical and seasonal displays year-round. Inside, you’ll find carefully curated plant collections that are regularly rotated, ensuring there is always something new to discover.
The space plays an important role in:
- Housing rare and sensitive species that require specific growing conditions
- Showcasing seasonal floral displays that change throughout the year
- Supporting major botanical events, including rare blooms like the Titan Arum
- Enhancing visitor experiences through immersive, close-up encounters with plants
During the Corpse Flower bloom, the Conservatory became the heart of the action—remaining open 24 hours to give visitors every chance to witness this extraordinary and short-lived event.
Whether you’re a plant enthusiast or simply exploring the Gardens, the Conservatory offers a unique and ever-changing window into the world of plants.
