The corpse flower at the Geelong Botanic Gardens has
started blushing and will soon bloom.
The
Titan Arum, Amorphophallus titanum, commonly known as the corpse flower
is famous for its rotting, corpse smell when it blooms.
Seeing
this flower in full bloom is a rare event as the plants bloom unpredictably and
can be as infrequent as once every ten years.
The corpse flower is expected to bloom for 24 – 48 hours between
Tuesday 5 and Sunday 10 November.
The Gardens will have extended opening hours for visitors during this time.
