Broken: All amplifiers are classified as e-waste and can be dropped off for free at the Drysdale Resource Recovery Centre or check with the interim Geelong Resource Recovery Centre.

It is against the law in Victoria to put e-waste in your kerbside bin. 


Otherwise:

Working: If the amplifier is still in good condition, contact your local op shop and ask whether they will accept it or try selling it through an online marketplace.

Bedside tables can be taken to the Drysdale Resource Recovery Centre for disposal. Fees will apply. 


Otherwise:

Best option for disposal:

Blenders, including stick blenders, are e-waste. In Victoria it is against the law to place e-waste in kerbside collection bins.


Otherwise:

Working: If the blender is still in good condition, contact your local op shop and ask whether they will accept it or try selling it through an online marketplace.

Bread Makers are classified as e-waste and can be dropped off for free at the Drysdale Resource Recovery Centre or at the interim Geelong Resource Recovery Centre.

Best option for disposal:

Place in the red lid rubbish bin.

Do not place clothes or any type of textile in your recycling bin.


Otherwise:

Donate to charity if in good condition. Drop off during business hours to ensure goods are accepted.

If in poor condition there are several used textile recycling programs now available, some free, some paid. 

SCRgroup owns and operates clothing drop off hubs for clothes that are not acceptable to donate to charity.

Best option for disposal:

Broken or poor condition: Metal golf clubs can be disposed of for free at Drysdale Resource Recovery Centre in the metal bin. Carbon fibre clubs can also be disposed of at this site; however charges will apply.

Golf clubs are classified as ‘sporting goods’ and are therefore eligible to be collected as part of our hard waste collection service.

If broken into pieces, small parts can be placed in your red lid rubbish bin. Do not place whole clubs in your kerbside bin.

In good or OK condition: Contact your local op shop to see whether they'll accept them, or try selling or giving them away for free on an online marketplace.

Wrap it in plastic or paper and place it into your red lid rubbish bin.

Never place glass from appliances and electronics in your recycling bin. It is the wrong type of glass to be recycled and can contaminate the rest of the load.

Local charity Our Village (formerly Geelong Mums) takes donations of many baby and nursery items to give to other families in need.

Volunteers collect donations of cots, prams, car seats, clothes and other baby items. They then work with local social service agencies and Maternal Health Nurses, who request items for local families who are facing a variety of challenges.

Donated items must meet current Victorian safety standards and must be in great condition - a good question to ask is would you be happy to pass on to a close friend.



Best option for disposal:

Metal outdoor furniture can be taken to the Drysdale Resource Recovery Centre for free drop off.


Otherwise:

Residents may be eligible to have bulky household waste items picked up from their property as part of their rates payment.
